Maquoketa, Ia., March 1--Gilman Doe, wealthy citizen of this city, died at 11:3 p.m. Sunday at his home here. Mr. Doe had been an invalid for a number of years and had been confined to his bed for the last ten weeks. He was prominent musically and before his invalidism was a leader of musical organizations. His daughter, Mrs. R. S. Hayes, who with his son Walter survives him, is also musical. She is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory and is organist of the Methodist church. Walter Doe lives in Oakland, Cal.

Mr. Doe was born in New Hampshire. He later moved to Vermont with his parents and from there came to Maquoketa. He has been retired from active business for many years. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
