Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m. and an American Legion service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, June 5, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with inurnment in the church cemetery where American Legion Post 137 will accord military honors. Rev. Jeffrey Dole will officiate.

Herb was born February 14, 1921, in Dyersville, Iowa the son of Gerhard and Rosa (Kerkhoff) Tegeler. Herb served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945, in Europe. He married Anna Gertrude Kohaut on July 31, 1948, in Kronberg, Germany. He began working for his father at Tegeler’s Dairy and later owned and operated Tegeler Body, Frame, Wrecker and Crane Service from 1949, until his retirement in 2012, when the business was sold to new ownership.

Survivors include his wife, Annie, 3 children: Janie Tegeler, Jesse (Amy) Tegeler and Sherry Krapfl, all of Dyersville, a daughter-in-law, Ellen Tegeler of Dyersville; 8 grandchildren: Tracy Tegeler, Tammy (John) Olberding, Scott Tegeler, Shelly (Ken) Hageman, Holly Tegeler, Josh Tegeler, Hunter (Alyssa) Krapfl and Kendall Krapfl; 10 great grandchildren: Kimberly & James Bartlett, McKenna, Cassidy, Shelby & Elizabeth Olberding, Kaylie, Luke and Ike Tegeler and Payton Krapfl.
in-laws: Walter (Hannelore) Kohaut of Frankfurt, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel L. Tegeler in 2010, siblings: William Tegeler, Alma (John) Manley, Edna (Ted) Madison, Earl (Rosemary) Tegeler and Elmer F. (LaVonne) Tegeler.

The family would like to give special “Thanks” to his 24 hour caretakers: Jodi, Sara, Gladys, Holly & Kendall. Your loving care & kindness will never be forgotten.
