Funeral services for Anton J. Derganz, 86, of rural Maquoketa, was held Saturday, February 4, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Derganz died Thursday, February 2 at the Jackson County Public Hospital. Rev. Robert Palen officiated at the service and burial was in Sugar Creek cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Derganz, Larry Derganz, Kenneth Derganz, Michael Lasack, Joe Trenkamp, and Jim McCloy.

Anton J. Derganz was born February 3, 1891 in Austria. He came to the U.S. when he was 18. On February 10, 1915 he married Mary Banowetz at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sugar Creek. She died April 19, 1971.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emil (Margaret) Lasack of Wyoming; three sons, Albert, Joseph and Raymond, all of Maquoketa; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother.
