Maquoketa, Ia., Oct. 2--At the noon hour Monday George Wilgis passed away without a struggle at the farm of Wm. Moon, owned by Andy York, at the limits of Hurstville.

Mr. Wilgis went to work for Mr. Moon in the morning in a very happy frame of mind. He was singing away and chatting gleefully, and but a few minutes before asked for assistance to help move a log, where he had been chopping wood. He started to the house for his dinner and sat up against the fence close by breathing his last apparently without a struggle. He was immediately approached by friends who found that he had passed into his last slumber. He was a hard working man and had many warm friends. He resided with his wife on Elisa street in the James Waugh house. He leaves no children.
