Maquoketa, Iowa, July 20--After being confined to her bed for several weeks with infirmities incidental to old age, Mrs. Paul Van Eschen passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Ringlep, Wednesday evening. Mrs. Van Eschen was one of four of old residents and has for many years enjoyed the highest respect of the entire community. A kind mother and faithful friend has gone from our midst.

She was born in Alsace Loraine then a part of France, June 23, 1830, and was united in marriage to Anthony Ringlep in her native land in the year 1851, the young couple coming to America a year later settling in Ohio where they resided until 1855 when they came to Dubuque, Ia., and shortly after to Maquoketa, where she had since made her home. To this union were born two sons, Adam Ringlep of this city and Charles Ringlep of Edna, Kansas, also three daughters, Mrs. L. Pacobsen who passed away a number of years ago; Mrs. Anna Penrose of this city and Mrs. Louis Livingston of Edna, Kansas. Mr. Ringlep passed away in 1867, and some years after she was united in marriage to Mr. Paul Van Eschen who preceded her in death several years ago. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Will Ringlep of this city.

She was a faithful and consistent member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, and in this faith she stood steadfast until the end. The funeral will be held from the late home in the Second ward Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Sarah Husband conducting the services. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
