Preston, Ia., June 26--Mrs. Joe Detterman passed away Saturday morning at the home of her son, John, near Sugar Creek. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Catholic church at Sugar Creek.

Preston, Ia., June 29--Mrs. Catherine Detterman has gone to her reward, leaving a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn her death. Surrounded by her children, she passed away at 8 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her son John, near Sugar Creek.

Mrs. Detterman has been in poor health for the past few years, but never in that time did she lose interest in private or public life. Being always alert, she got much out of her later years.

Catherine Borman was born April 26, 1844, in Germany, and at the age of 14 she came to America with her parents, settling around here, where she has since lived.

In the year 1864 she was united in marriage to Joseph Detterman. To this happy union nine children were born, all of whom are living. Mr. Detterman preceded her in death six years ago.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Catholic church at Sugar Creek at 10 o'clock, Father Decker and Father Shoenfelder celebrating a requiem high mass. Interment was made in the Sugar Creek cemetery. She is survived by two sons and seven daughters: John and May, both of Sugar Creek; Mrs. Ferdinan Jost of Lyons, Mrs. Joe Jost of Preston, Mrs. Peter Neu of New Hampton, Mrs. Charley Franke of Lawler, Mrs. John Franke of Lawler, Mrs. Franch Cach of Scotland, S.D., and Mrs. Frank Spain of Petersville, besides one brother and one sister, John Borman and Mrs. Brinkman, besides a host of friends.
