Miles, Ia., May 9--Gilbert E. Webber was born July 28, 1896, and died April 30, 1917. About three weeks ago he enlisted in the medical department of the United States army in Chicago, and in a few days was attached to the Twenty-third recruiting company, C.S.I.A., Jefferson Barracks, Mo. The body arrived in Miles Thursday evening, May 3, and was taken to the home of C. J. Kellogg, where funeral services were held Friday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Skiles, pastor of the Congregational church. Sixteen soldiers from Sabula were in attendance and the young man was laid to rest in the Miles cemetery with military honors. The entire community extend their sympathy to the bereaved parents. Among those attending the funeral were Miss Gill and Miss Frost of Chicago and Burt Rodgers of Dubuque.
