Maquoketa, Ia., Feb. 10--Mrs. Lucy Usher Beecher died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Cornelia Blanchard, in Harvard, Ill., on the morning of February 6th, after an illness of three weeks from pneumonia, aged nearly seventy-two years. She was born on the old Dr. Usher farm four miles north of Maquoketa, April 5, 1845, and grew up to splendid womanhood, taught school in tis vicinity and around DeWitt. Hers was a beautiful character, and she always had host of warm friends.

She leaves behind of near kin her sister, Mrs. Cornelia Blanchard, L. W. Usher of Maquoketa and one son, T. W. Houser of Alamosa, Colo. The remains were interred at Harvard, Ill.
