19 January 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 4

Preston, Ia., Jan. 19--One by one the early pioneers of the county are crossing the silent river never more to return. But the impress of their lives and the strong convictions of their moral worth are never lost, but ever left among those who know them. The solemn event brings to all the surety of death and the brighter world beyond.

Mrs. Sophia Krumviede has gone to her reward, leaving a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn her death. She was born July 19, 1848, in the state of Illinois. When she was but a few years old her parents moved on a farm near Miles. At the age of eighteen she was married to August Krumviede. They went to housekeeping on a farm near Green Island, where they have always lived. Had Mrs. Krumviede lived till April 16, 1917, they would have been married 50 years. To this happy union sixteen children were born, all of whom are living but four.

She leaves to mourn her death, six daughters and six sons: Mrs. Mary Pauli of Spragueville, Mrs. Sophia Mangler of Green Island, Mrs. Emma Keithley of Bellevue, Mrs. Margaret Danniels of Bellevue, Mrs. Letha Mangler of Green Island, Mrs. Thresa Smithson of Manning, Iowa; John, Fred, Will and George, all of Green Island; Frank of Bellevue, and August of White Lake, South Dakota.

At the time of her death she was 68 years, 5 months and 24 days old.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the home, Rev. Mohl officiating. Music was furnished by the Green Island choir.
