Maquoketa, Jan. 17--Mrs. Melvin Jerome, aged 23 years, passed away Saturday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock at the home of her mother, Mrs. Lee Grant, north of this city.

Mrs. Jerome had been ill for many weeks and all that loving hands and medical skill could do proved of no benefit to her.

Elizabeth Mae Morris was born near Joinerville and has spent most of her life in this vicinity.

On June 11, 1912, she was united in marriage to Melvin Jerome of Onalaska, Wis. They resided there until 1915, when they moved to this vicinity, settling on a farm near Long Grove, where they have since made their home.

Besides her husband she is survived by a little son, Leonard, and daughter, Clauris, also 3 sisters and one brother, Mrs. Bert Lewis of Lacrosse, Wis.; Mrs. Gerald Inch of Rock Island, Edna of Maquoketa and Charles Morris, also of this city.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock at the Reformed church, Rev. Boomershine officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
