Randal B. Schoenherr, 55, of Canton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday afternoon June 15, 2019, at his home in Canton.

A celebration of Randal's life will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, June 21, 2019, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at St. Peter's Temple Hill Church Cemetery, rural Cascade, Iowa.

Randal Benedict Schoenherr was born on January 21, 1964 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Rollie and Patricia (Bliss) Schoenherr. He was a 1982 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. He married Jennifer Lynn Callahan on October 12, 1996 in Colfax, Iowa. To this union a son Brett Roger was born.

Randal had owned and operated the Longbranch in Canton, Iowa for over 28 years. He also was a lifelong cattle and crop farmer.

Randal was a member of the Jackson County Cattlemen. He enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, visiting with friends and neighbors, and going on vacations and 4-wheeling trips. He especially loved his family and always enjoyed being around them.

Those left to honor Randal's memory include his wife, Jennifer Schoenherr of Canton, IA; a son Brett Schoenherr of Canton, IA; his mother and step-father, Patricia and Ron Shady of Cincinnati, IA; brothers Rodney (Becky Rasmussen) Schoenherr of Maxwell, IA, Oscar Schoenherr of Monmouth, IA, and Dwight (Kathy) Schoenherr of Cascade, IA; sisters, Lucreca (Dennis) Houston of Maquoketa, IA, Lucinda (Rick) Turnis of Cascade, IA, Loretta Schoenherr of Houma, LA, Tonya (Allan) Waller of Bernard, IA, Sheila (Reggie) Gillis of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Patricia (John Montgomery) Schoenherr of Mystic, IA; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Mary Callahan of Maquoketa, IA; and Rollie's special friend Jill Yousse. He was preceded in death by his father Rollie, two sisters Valerie and Lynn, a brother Rollie, and his father-in-law Roger Callahan.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Randal B. Schoenherr memorial fund has been established.
