LARRY SHEAN, VICTIM OF BAD ACCIDENT, DIES
(Special Correspondence.)
Maquoketa, Ia. Sept. 12--Larry Shean, who lives on Frank Mitchell's farm nine miles northwest of Maquoketa, and who met with a bad accident yesterday afternoon about 3:30 o'clock, passed away this morning at 2 o'clock.

The accident happened while Mr. Shean was returning home from town, he having brought in some hogs. The end-gate dropped out and turned a couple of sacks of dirt on the heels of the horses and other things taking the unfortunate man by surprise, who evidently thought the safe course to pursue was to run the horses into the embankment which threw him out forward, the wheels going over his legs and breaking them besides bruising his body in a terrible manner.

The news was a great shock to the whole community, whose sympathy goes out to the good old mother and the five sisters and brothers who survive as follows: Nancy at home, Mrs. Mary Snodgrass, Presho, S.D., Mrs. Ella Welsh, Clinton, Lizzie and Lucy, Charles, Porter and Patrick, at home.

Mr. Shean was born in Jackson county and was about 49 years of age.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
