Preston, Ia., Sept. 1--Onna Ewald was born March 9, 1848, at Kropp, Germany. On Dec. 9, 1867, she was united in marriage to John F. Kroeger, to which happy union seven children were born in her home town at Kropp. On the 19th day of August, 1916, she passed away at her home.

Mrs. Kroeger has been in ill health for the past six months, but never in that time did she lose interest in private or public life. In July, 1884, she with her husband and children came to America, where she lived till the end. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. Moehl officiating. She leaves to mourn her loss four daughters, three sons, two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Ernest Frahn of Miles, Mrs. C. W. Miller of Preston, Mrs. E. J. Rodewald of Preston, Mrs. F. C. Roach of Miles, H. F. Kroeger of Corsico, S.D.; Henry Kroeger of Preston, W. J. Kroeger of Sabula, Mrs. Wagner of Washington, Mrs. Strob of Madison, S.D. The sympathy of the entire community goes forth to the mourners.
