Maquoketa, Iowa, April 7.--Frances Marion Ballou passed away at the home of Mrs. Sherman Tubbs, his granddaughter, of Maquoketa, April 6, 1916, age 69 years, 10 months 5 days, being born June 1, 1846. He was born in New York state. His father, Amasa Ballou, was born in Maryland, and his mother's name was Thorp, she being born in New York state. He came to Jackson county in 1849 with his parents at the age of 6 years. Funeral is to be held at Esgate, April 9, at 2 p.m., Rev. Dr. Morgan of the Congregational church officiating. He leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. Francis M. Ballou of Woodbury county, Sanford Ballou, who is on the home farm, Mrs. Sutton, his daughter, lives in this city.
