Maquoketa, Ia. March 29---James Jefferson Ogden passed away at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning, aged 88 years, 10 months and 28 days, being born May 1st, 1827, in the state of Ohio. His father, James Ogden, was born in Kentucky and his mother, Mary Riley, was born in Ohio.

In the passing away of Mr. Ogden Maquoketa has lost one of its most highly esteemed citizens. He was one of the Clinton county pioneers and came here in an early day and by frugality, honesty and industry he and his esteemed wife acquired quite an estate--settling in the above county in 1844. He leaves a wife and one son, Walter, to mourn his death, besides several grandchildren and a host of friends. The funeral will be held Friday.
