Maquoketa, Iowa, Jan. 29--In the passing away of Mrs. Margaret Banghart at her home on Pleasant street at about 4 a.m. Friday morning, we all bow our heads in reverence and keenly feel her loss with the grief-stricken family. A good woman has been snatched away from us so suddenly, whose kindly and charitable acts are legion; her sweet daughter, Gladys, was taken from her September 28 last. Her grief has been constant from that time, till her God, in whom she put her trust, ushered her beautiful spirit before her Savior, to abide with her daughter, and meet her departed husband.

She will be missed in so many ways and by so many outside of the broken family circle. She was a devoted member of the Congregational church, and was always in her seat if possible to be there, and never allowed anything to come between her and her Wednesday night prayer meetings.

She was a member of the Eastern Star lodge of Masons of this city, and a bright and enthusiastic member of the Woman's club for many years and if the club was short on programs she could always be counted on for entertainment. Her wit was tempered by wisdom and her advice was always good and sought after.

She was a member of the P.E.O. club and the Arts and Craft societies, and whenever the church and clubs to which she belonged had sociable or feasts you could always count on her bringing along well-filled baskets of appetizing eatables and after the meals were over she never forgot the poor and would send food to them.

She opened her purse for any public enterprise.

When her husband departed this life in 1896 she was left four young children to look after, and a clothing store and with the assistance of Harry Little, the business has been conducted successfully and the children given a good education and are all an honor to society.

She leaves three children, Mrs. Lee Grant of Omaha, Miss Inez Banghart of Maquoketa, and Frank Bankhart of this city, and her brother-in-law, Mr. John Taylor, who makes his home, while in Maquoketa with the sorrowing family, besides other relatives, who have the profound sympathy of all.

She was born in Iowa, April 20, 1854, and was 61 years, 8 months and 8 days old.

Her father, William Moore, was born in Ireland.

Her mother's maiden name was Sarah Ann Beatty and she too was born in Ireland.

Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Arthur M. Lewis will officiate.

Interment at Mt. Hope cemetery.

Mrs. Lee Grant of Omaha arrived at Delmar early Friday morning and was driven to Maquoketa by team over the rough roads, arriving a little over an hour after her mother, Mrs. Margaret Banghart, had passed away.

The services at the funeral of Mrs. Margaret Banghart, held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon, were beautiful, the most comforting for the mourners and friends of any ever attended, and while sad and touching, there seemed to be a grand satisfaction throughout on account of the almost heavenly surroundings. The casket was bedecked and almost surrounded with the choicest and most fragrant flowers, typical of the sweet life the departed friend had lived. The blending and harmony of the quartet's well-selected selections reminded us of the sweet harmony she had brought forth in her family circle and tried to maintain in her church and the societies of which she was an honored member and also among her friends. In the impressive talk by Rev. Lewis he eliminated the usual text from the Bible and substituted that which came from the mouths of her many friends he met upon the streets: "She Will Be Missed.

Then the beautiful and symmetrical part that the "P.E.O." sisters took, of which Mrs. Banghart was an enthusiastic member, left a deep impression upon us all that after all "It Is Not All of Life to Live, Nor All of Death to Die."

The following out-of-town people were in attendance at the funeral: Mr. Dave Barton, Cascade, Ia.; Mr. Sam Beatty, Cascade, Ia.; Mrs. Wm. Woods, Tipton, Iowa, Brother E. Moore and wife, Cascade, and Mrs. Wm. Cooley, Cascade, Ia.
