William J. "Wil" Simons, 38, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of "Wil" on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 4 to 6 P.M. in "The Bistro" at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa, at a later date.

William John Simons was born on April 23, 1980 in Davenport, Iowa, to Dennis and Joan (Kinnemann) Simons. He grew up in Maquoketa and attended Maquoketa Community High School.

"Wil" had worked construction for different contractors in the Quad Cities area for several years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time in the outdoors.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Joan Bagwell of Maquoketa, IA; a son, Wesley Simons of Andrew, IA; a sister, Becki Cooper of Maquoketa, IA; a niece Kiah Gipson; a nephew Carter Cooper; aunts and uncles, Nina and Roy Buff, Deb and Dean Tillis, Teresa Simons, Karen and Gary Shapley, Marc and Mary Pat Kinnemann, and Jack and Cynthia Kinnemann; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Dennis Simons, and his uncle Terry Simons.
