Marie A. Miller, 89, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018, at her home in Maquoketa.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A memorial visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. A private burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, at a later date.

Marie Alice Gade was born on August 23, 1928 in Nashville, Iowa, to Harry and Lillie (Frandsen) Gade. She grew up in Chicago where she graduated from high school. During the summers she would visit her family in the Nashville, Iowa area and that is where she met her future husband, Alfred Dee Miller. They were married on August 25, 1957 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Carol, Andrew and Adam.

Marie was a wonderful mother and housewife who helped farm with her husband in the Maquoketa area. She enjoyed gardening, and loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Carol (Profian) Desuza of Greenwood, IN, Andrew Miller of Maquoketa, IA, and Adam (Karen) Miller of Maquoketa, IA; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Harry and Lillie, her step-father Anders Anderson Sr., a brother Anders Anderson Jr., and sisters Thyra Kleinsmith, and Elaine Freeman on April 17, 2018.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Marie A. Miller memorial fund has been established.
