BELLEVUE, Iowa - Mary M. Giesemann, 87, of Belle-vue, passed away, Thursday morning, June 22, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, at St. John Lutheran Church in St. Donatus. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Visitation for Mary will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue, and again Monday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church in St. Donatus.

Mary was born on January 28, 1930, in St. Donatus, the daughter of Alfred and Amanda (Reeg) Hueneke. She married Virgil Giesemann on December 14, 1948. Virgil passed away on July 14, 1982.

Mary and her husband owned and operated Country Side Feed and Seed from 1978-1989, she also worked at Mill Valley Care Center in the Kitchen. Mary spent many hours volunteering for the Bellevue RTA, The Finley Hospital in the Babka Center and the Bellevue Butterfly Garden.

Mary was a free spirited, kind hearted, gentle person who always had a smile on her face. In her earlier years she enjoyed fishing. Mary also enjoyed traveling, baking (especially her famous chocolate cake), spending time out in the sun and being in the company of her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her four children, Gary (Faye) Giesemann, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Janell (Joe) Daugherty, Timothy (Becky) Giesemann, and Todd (Deb) Giesemann, all of Bellevue; eleven grandchildren, Jordan, Evan (Ryan) Giesemann, Kelly (Jim) Russell, Erin (Jon) Mueller, Abby (Brad) Slauson, Benjamin (Joslyn Zimmermann), Ashley (Matt Schlecht), Toby, Tate, Nicole, Luke Giesemann; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Adela Giesemann, of Bellevue; and two sister-in-laws, Verrena Dagitz-Stein, and Joy Hueneke.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Paul.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's name.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center, especially the fourth floor, Bellevue's First Responders, Mill Valley Care Center & Sunrise Villa, and all of Mary's special friends who had helped her out over the years. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
