Patrick O'Connell Funeral Saturday

Patrick O'Connell, age 83, passed away at Mercy hospital, Dubuque Wednesday, July 24 at 8 a.m.

Funeral services were held from the Devaney Funeral Home to St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen, on Saturday, July 27 at 9:30 a.m. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery. The pastor, the Rev. James Cassidy read the Requiem Mass, preached the sermon and officiated at the graveside services. The Rev. Alfred Kruse and the Rev. Robert Saunders were also present.

Mr. O'Connell was born at Temple Hill September 11, 1879, a son of Patrick and Honora (Welch) O'Connell. He farmed in North Garryowen all of his life. His wife, the former Mary Noonan, passed away in 1958.

Survivors include 3 sons, James of Zwingle, Edward of Bernard, and Patrick of Dubuque; 4 daughters, Mrs. Francis (Loretta) Shanahan, Zwingle, Mrs. Robert (Eileen) Fassbinder, Bernard, and Misses Eleanor and Rose Mary, both of Dubuque; 26 grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Frank and Timothy, both of Cascade.

Casket bearers were Willard Noonan, Joe O'Connell, John Pfab, Kim Kenneally, George Federspiel, Ed Leonard, John Henneberry and Connie Shanahan.
