Mrs. Pat O'Connell Succumbs; Rites to Be Held Tomorrow
Mrs. Patrick (Mary Loretta) O'Connell, 65, died at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Tuesday, January 29 at 1:35 p.m., following a heart attack suffered 5 days previous at her North Garryowen home.
Funeral Friday Morning
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning, January 31, 1958 from the Devaney Funeral Home to St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen at [9:30?]. Fr. James Cassidy, pastor, will officiate at the Requiem High Mass and at the interment in the parish cemetery.
Mrs. O'Connell was a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (McCarthy) Noonan. She was born April 20, 1892 in North Garryowen where she spent her entire life.
On June 29, 1920 in St Patrick's church, North Garryowen, she was united in marriage with Patrick O'Connell. To their union were born 7 children, 3 sons and 4 daughters, all of whom together with her husband survive her passing. They are: James, Zwingle; Ed., Bernard; Pat, Bernard; Mrs. Francis (Loretta) Shanahan, Mrs. Robert (Eileen) Fassbinder, Eleanor and Rose Mary, all of Bernard. Other survivors are 3 brothers, Dan, of Peosta, Joseph and Andrew, Bernard; 2 sisters, Mrs. John Lynch, Dubuque; Kathryn, of Bernard; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.
Mrs. O'Connell was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's parish and for all of her adult years identified with its Rosary Society.
