Clem J. English, 89, 28188 Bernard Road, Bernard, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 24, 1995, at home.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called Sunday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, where a wake service was held at 4 p.m.

Mr. English farmed in the Bernard area all of his life.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1905, in Garryowen, son of Dominic and Hannah (Reddin) English. He married Margery Kennedy on Oct. 3, 1928, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, South Garryowen; she died June 28, 1988.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, and the Parish Council of Men and Women.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Duane) Lammert, of Metairie, La., Mrs. Mary Jo Henneberry, of Bernard, Judith English, of Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Joan English, of Bernard; a son, Thomas C. (and Mary) English, of Bernard; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Mae Carr, of Dubuque; and a brother, Dominic (Lou Mae) English Jr., of Bernard.

He also was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Mary Margaret and Jayne Anne; and a son-in-law, John Henneberry, on Dec. 5, 1990.
