BERNARD, Iowa - Viola L. "Blondie" Moore, 91, of 1336 Bernard Road, Bernard, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen, wake service at 5 p.m.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1912, in Durango, daughter of Fred and Esther (Schaumburg) Fettkether.

She married John Moore Sr. on May 29, 1935; he preceded her in death on June 28, 1995. They operated Moore's Grocery Store in Bernard for several years. She also worked in the dietary department at Western Dubuque School in Bernard.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Council of Men and Women.

She loved to visit and cook for all her family. She also loved to spend her time caring and watching out for others.

Viola was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are five children, Fred (Mazie) Moore, of La Motte, Richard (Pat) Moore, of Cascade, Lyle (Ruth) Moore, of Peosta, and Terry (Arlene) Moore and Mary Kay (Tom) Bechen, both of Bernard; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Moore; 27 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Fettkether and Maime Henry, both of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by a son, John Moore Jr.; two grandchildren, Mark and Michael Moore; and a brother, Delbert Fettkether.

A Viola L. Moore Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Lindsey, Dr. Longo and Michelle for all their care.
