BERNARD, Iowa - Wilfred J. Ronek, 60, of 1568 Higgensport Road, Bernard, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at his home in rural Bernard.

Friends and relatives of Wilfred may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at St. Patrick's Church in Garryowen. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Garryowen. Reiff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wilfred was born Jan. 22, 1953, in Monticello, son of James and Loretta (Johnson) Ronek. He received his education in the Western Dubuque schools.

He farmed in the rural Bernard area.

Wilfred was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Garryowen.

He is survived by 10 siblings, Charles (Charlotte) Ronek, of New Vienna, Leonard (Holly) Ronek, of Brooklyn, Wis., Agnes Gregorich, of Dubuque, Margaret (Steve) Willenbring, of Dyersville, Grace (Daniel) Pfeiler, of Long Grove, Joyce (Dave) Link, of Springtown, Texas, Dave (Diane) Ronek, of Cascade, Teresa (John) Coffey, of Peosta, Linda (Joe) Pfeiler, of Delano, Minn., and Leona (Dean) Lehman, of Epworth; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and stepnieces and stepnephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Ronek, on March 20, 1979, and his mother, Loretta Ronek, on Aug. 7, 2008; a brother, Steve Ronek, on July 10, 2002; and a nephew, Damian "D.J." Willenbring.
