Accident Caused Death

Timothy J. O’Connell Died After Lingering Nearly a Month From Date of Accident

Timothy Joseph O'Connell died Saturday, August 29th, at 10:30 a.m. from the effects of an accident which happened about August 1st. He was engaged in hauling hay when he slipped off of the load and fell beneath the wagon and the rear wheels passed over his chest and stomach. He lingered for twenty-eight days and death came on Saturday last at the old homestead in Jackson county.

Timothy Joseph O’Connell was a son of the late John O'Connell of Butler township, and he was born on the old homestead October 2, 1883. He was unmarried and lived on the old home all of his life. He had many friends and was universally admired for his upright character and genial disposition.

Both of his parents died some years ago, but he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Patrick, John, David, James Joseph, Mrs. Patrick Crotty, and Miss Nora.

The funeral services were held from the residence to St. Patrick's church last Monday morning, Rev. P. J. Coffey officiating. The Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's parish, of which deceased was a member, attended in a body, and the general attendance at the obsequies was the largest held in that parish for years.

The following old friends acted as pallbearers: Michael Ryle, Michael Noonan, Con Crotty, Richard Lynch, Michael Lynch, and John Redmond.
