Mrs. A. Noonan

A highly respected resident of this community and Jackson County passed to her reward when Mrs. Andrew Noonan died at her home in Garryowen Friday morning. She had been ill for about one year.

Elizabeth McCarthy was born in Dubuque on Dec. 26, 1858, the daughter of the late Daniel and Catherine McCarthy. Practically all her life was spent in the vicinity of Garryowen, where she was married to Andrew Noonan about 45 years ago.

Mrs. Noonan's death is a keen sorrow to all who knew her. A good wife and mother, she was untiring all her life in providing cheer and Christian guidance to all those who surrounded her. She was a lifelong Catholic and died fortified by the last rites of that religion.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Daniel, Andrew and Joseph, all of Garryowen; and three daughters, Catherine, at home, Mrs. Patrick O'Connell, Temple Hill, and Mrs. John Lynch, Garryowen. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters, James and Richard McCarthy, of Dubuque; John, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. David Crotty, Cascade; Mrs. John Gill, Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Frank Renslaw, St. Paul, Minn., and Catherine McCarthy, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services for the deceased were held at Garryowen, St. Patrick's Church, Monday, with interment being made in the adjoining cemetery. Father Malone, pastor of the parish officiated at both the church and the grave. Casket bearers were Francis Wolfe, Victor Zollinger, P. J. O'Connell, Richard Lynch, Albert Stickley, Leo Noonan, Harold Noonan and Albert McMahon.
