WATERLOO - Dorothy Marie Wathier, 79, died Friday, Aug. 23, at Friendship Village.

She was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Key West, daughter of Joseph and Alma Kress Mitchell. She married Orlyn Wathier on Aug. 28, 1954, in Key West.

She attended school at St. Columbkille, and completed her degree as a registered nurse from Mercy Medical Center, both in Dubuque. She worked as a registered nurse in numerous Northeast Iowa area hospitals.

Survived by: her husband; six children: the Rev. Doug Wathier of Dubuque, Marty Wathier of Omaha, Neb., Dean Wathier of Aurora, Colo., Michelle (Rob) Hood of Pasadena, Md., Dominic (Kathy) Wathier of Mabel, Minn., and Mary (Jeff) Waters of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Daryl.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m.
