MAN AND BROTHER-IN-LAW
VICTIMS OF ACCIDENT
~
Delmar, Ia. Jan. 1. – SPECIAL: Will Reilly, 60, of Delmar, Ia., was instantly killed, and his brother-in-law. C. D. O’Connell, of Chicago, aged 60, died at a Maquoketa hospital at 4:30 this morning following an automobile accident Monday afternoon a quarter of a mile west of here.

Reilly died of a broken neck and a fractured skull, while O’Connell dearth was attributed to internal injuries.

The two men, with O’Connell driving, were in a new sedan, owned by M. J. O’Mera of Petersville. While no one saw the accident, it’s believed that the car first overturned and then crashed into a telephone pole, ripping off the top of the car. Arnold Schenden, a passing motorist, with assistance of several other motorist, took the men from the car. Reilly was apparently dead but O’Connell was taken to Maquoketa for medical attention.

There will be no inquest.

Reilly was a widower and has six children living in Chicago. He lived alone on a farm on the outskirts of this city. The car was a total wreck.
