BELLEVUE, Iowa - Leora Marie Etting, 103, of 1201 Park St., Bellevue, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue, with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, St. Donatus. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, 100 N. Sixth St., Bellevue.
Mrs. Etting worked at the Bellevue Hospital and also the Mill Valley Care Center, retiring in 1977.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1897, in Bellevue, daughter of Herman and Augusta Felderman. She married Fred A. Etting on April 14, 1920, at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Donatus. They were the first couple to marry in the new church. She and her husband farmed on the Etting Homestead until 1952, when they moved to Bellevue. She and Fred operated the Bellevue Memorial Nursing Home for two years. Mr. Etting died on Oct. 25, 1960.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue. She is fondly remembered by the many children for whom she baby-sat. Until she entered Mill Valley, she enjoyed caring for her home, flowers and garden.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Barbara Etting, of Bellevue; a grandson, Carl (Sheila) Etting, of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Sherry (Rod) Miller, of Coralville; three great-grandsons, Jason and Casey Yeager and Dustin Etting; a great-great-grandson, Ethan Yeager; a step-great-granddaughter, Erin Minnis; and a step-great-grandson, Brandon Minnis.

She also was preceded in death by a son, LaVerne, who died on April 30, 1981; four brothers, Clarence, Erwin, Ralph and Royal Felderman; and a sister, Florence Morrit.
