Sabula, Ia. - Esther (McElroy) Sandholdt, 78, of Sabula died Tuesday Feb. 10, 1987, at Mercy Hospital, Clinton, Ia.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Sabula United Methodist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Friends may call until 5 and from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Sabula.

Mrs. Sandholdt was born in Sabula. She was a postal clerk at the Sabula Post Office for 20 years until she retired and was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church and the Sabula Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in 1961, an a infant daughter.

Surviving are four son, George and Bert, both of Sabula, James of Oskaloosa and Doug of Clinton; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Donna) Wilson of Sabula, Mrs. Eldon (Joyce) Pyle of Oelwein, and Mrs. Sidney (Sandra) Curnutt of Maquoketa; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Thompson of New York Mills, Minn.
