Mrs. Ellen Burke

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Burke, who passed away at her home in Garryowen, Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock, were held from the Devaney Funeral Home to St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen at 9:30 o'clock this (Thursday) morning.

Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Ryle, Hubert Donovan, A. J Schemmel, Harold Noonan, David O’Connell and Neil McDonnell.

Mrs. Burke was born at Garryowen, September 24, 1856, the daughter of Mathew and Mary Ann Williams. On October 27, 1873, she was united in marriage to Joseph Burke at Garryowen.

Surviving are two daughters — Mrs. Mary McLaughlin of Dubuque and Mrs. R. E. Byrne of Maquoketa, four sons—Joseph of Dubuque, Henry of Chicago, Clem and Paul at home.

Preceding her in death were her husband and seven children.
