Maquoketa, Iowa – Services for George Barnes, 85, who died Friday, were Monday morning in the Carlson-Balster Funeral Home. The Rev. H. D. Green officiated and burial was in Monmouth Cemetery.

He was was born Nov. 28, 1863, near Calamus, the son of Edwin and Mary E. Teskey Barnes. For many years he was night marshal here in Maquoketa.

Surviving are a son, George, in California, a brother Fred, of Maquoketa, and a sister, Mrs. Etta Cook, of Lost Nation.
