Rose Grace Farr, the daughter of Mathilda Keiser and Henry J. Becker, was born in Maquoketa, Iowa, September 1, 1879 and passed away after a lingering illness, January 13, 1955, aged 75 years. She attended the local schools and the Maquoketa Business College and was employed as a book keeper for several years at Kistenmacher Pharmacy in Davenport, Iowa.
On September 20, 1913, she was married to Charles W. Farr and since that time has resided in Maquoketa. Mr. Farr preceded her in death October 17, 1929. Mrs. Farr was a member of the First Congregational church of Maquoketa and was Past Worthy Matron of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 175, Order of the Eastern Star; past chief of the Pythian Sisters; past president of the Women's Relief Corps and of which she was treasurer for 26 years, and was a member of the Athenaeum Club.
She is survived by a stepson, Reynolds Farr, Denver, Colorado; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Edith Hill, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two brothers, George A. Becker, Everett, Washington and Harry W. Becker of Maquoketa; one sister, Mrs. L. W. (Edna) Romer of Maquoketa, with whom she has resided for the past ten years; also several nieces and nephews. She was preced in death by one sister and a brother. Funeral services were held on Monday, Janyary 17, at the Haylock-O'Hara funeral home with the Rev. Bruce A. Dean officiating.
