Mary J. Kennedy Hamilton was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, June 21, 1837, and died Oct. 8, 1908 at Andrew, Iowa, of tuberculosis, after a confining illness of long duration. She removed with her parents from Pennsylvania to Iowa in the year 1855 and was married by Rev. Dickey Feb. 14, 1867 to James S. Hamilton. The most of their married life was spent in the neighborhood of Andrew on a farm. A few years ago the retired from the farm and became residents of Andrew. Their family consists of four children, Frank M., Linnie S. (Mrs. Joe Ripple), Clyde S. and Wylie I. All of whom, with their family are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She also leaves two brothers and three sisters. She united with Presbyterian church at Andrew when young. The funeral was held Saturday a.m. from the home. Services were conducted by Rev. Schroeder at the United Presbyterian church with interment in the Andrew cemetery.
