Paulina Silva Clary was born in Franklin County, New York, October 28, 1825 and died at Maquoketa, Iowa, October 7, 1908. age 82 years 11 months 14 days. She was married to Winthrop P. Blake in Moira, Franklin County, New York, Nov. 10, 1844. To this union were born nine children, six of whom are left to mourn the death of a loving mother, Mrs. L. B. McDonald, Dorman C., Albert M. and George W. of Maquoketa, Mrs. Jane Pangborn of Thurman, Colorado and Mrs. Effie Morgensen of Denver, Colorado. Solomon died in infancy, Mertha M. in 1886 and Ellen Emery in 1902.
They came to Iowa in Sept., 1865 and purchased this little home where she has lived for 43 continuous years and from which has been buried her husband in 1881 and her two daughters. She bacame a member of the Methodist Episcopal church 35 years ago and was always a regular and faithful attendent until old age rendered her too feeble to attend. She had a firm belief in her Savior and has always ready and waiting for the summons of her Master.
She leaves an only sister, Mrs. Charles Follett of this city, seven brothers having preceded her. She was the grandmother of 19 and greatgrandmother of 21 to whom it has always been a treat and delight to com and see "Grandma."
Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. T. Foster at the home Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and the body was tenderly laid to rest in beautiful Mt. Hope Cemetery.
