MATHIAS EVEN RITES HELD FRIDAY

The funeral of Mathias Even, who died at his home Wednesday morning after a short illness, was held Friday morning. A requiem mass was read a St. Joseph's Catholic church, by the Rev. J. E. Linkenmeyer and the burial was made at the Catholic cemetery at Springbrook.

The Rev. W. G. Knapstein said the graveside prayers and nephews, Matt and Raymond Even, Henry Fischer, George Herrig and Nicholas Mootz were pallbearers. Matthias Even was the son of the late John and Mary Even and was born Jan. 16, 1861. He married Miss Caroline Fischer at St. Donatus, March 17, 1891. They resided at LaMotte for nine years and then engaged in farming for twenty-six years in Jackson township. Retiring in February of 1927, the family came to Bellevue to reside.

Of the eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Even, six died in infancy. Those surviving together with his sorrowing widow are two sons and three daughters, Mrs. John Zeimet, Leo Even, of Springbrook; Louis of LaMotte, Amelia and Agnes of home. He also leaves two brothers, Nicholas and John Even and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Even was a quiet, home loving man and his wife and family were his first consideration. His neighbors and friends knew him as a man of his word and his business dealings were most honorable.
