Bellevue, Iowa

Hazel L. Dyas, 92, of Bellevue, died Saturday evening, May 25, 1996, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stewart Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. (rest of paragraph omitted).

She was born June 1, 1903, in Bellevue, daughter of William and Anna (Neu) McGowan. She married Wilbur J. Dyas on Jan. 1, 1939 in Dubuque; he died Oct. 26, 1977.

Hazel had always lived in Bellevue and after her marriage to Wilbur the couple moved south of town where they farmed and also ran the Dyas Feed Mill in Bellevue.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she had been an elder of the church and a Dorcas Circle chairwoman. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and past worthy matron of OES and she had been a 50-year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John C. (Ruth Ann) Wirtz, of Davenport, two grandchildren, Jason and Amy Wirtz, of Davenport; and a sister, Irma Beeler, of Bellevue.

She also was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Elmer, Ben and Arthur; and a sister, Mabel.
