PIONEER LADY PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Calvin Blanchard is called to her last rest at the age of 79 years and 14 days.

Louisa Granby Blanchard was born in Stockholm, St. Lawrence County, New York, August 11, 1834, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. D. Crane, at the age of 79 years and 14 days. In Stockholm, among old puritanical people, she grew to womanhood and at the age of 17 years, married Ramon Page. To this union were born two children, a boy and a girl. The boy grew to manhood and died several years ago. The daughter is now Mrs. C. D. Crane. Mr. Page died in 1855 after spending a short time with his family in Ohio. Mrs. Page then returned to New York with her two children and in 1859 she married Calvin Blanchard. They came to Iowa in 1866 and have lived in this vicinity ever since.

Mrs. Blanchard was a noble, grand woman of sterling worth and had a heart of gold. "To know her was to love her."
