Another Pioneer Gone

Mrs. Mary Smith, wife of Andrew Smith, departed thiis life on Saturday, February 1, 1879, at her residence in Iowa Township, Jackson County. Mrs. Smith was born in County Caven, Ireland, and emigrated to this country in 1841, settling in Iowa Township, where she and her husband and family have since resided. She was a woman possessed of strong home attachments and as a neighbor and friend had few equals. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss. Her remains were deposited in the Catholic cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of friends and neighbors among whom were many of the Pioneers and Old Settlers Association.
