Teeds Grove Pioneer Dead

John F. Kunau, Sr., passed away at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday night, November 17, at his farm home near Teeds Grove, after an illness of several months. Mr. Kunau was born October 7, 1838, in Holstein, Germany, and was 82 years, one month and ten days old when death claimed him. He was united in marriage in the old country on April 5, 1866, to Miss Anna Feldman, and in 1866 Mr. Kunau came to America and settled in Ohio. His wife and daughter joined him the following year and then they moved to Clinton county and became a wellknown and prominent family in Elk River township. Eight children were born to them, all of whom are living as well as the aged wife and mother. The surviving children are John P. of Sabula, Ernest, of Teeds Grove, Alfred, of Clinton, S. H., of Leslie, Ark., Mrs. Chas. Jargo, of Teeds Grove, Mrs. Henry Peters, of Hauntown, Mrs. Ferdinand Peters, of Teeds Grove, and Mrs. Max Peters, west of Lyons. There are also 32 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and two sisters, the latter living in Germany. Funeral services were held at the Teeds Grove church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Hugo Grimm, of St. John's Lutheran church, Lyons, officiating. Interment was made in the Teeds Grove cemetery.
