Relatives and friends were shocked Sunday morning when the sad message stated that Bernhard Schroeder had passed away at 3 a. m. that morning at LaMotte at the home of his brother John. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder became ill after attending a wedding on Thursday, February 5th. Saturday night word came Mr. Schroeder was worse and Sunday the sad news reached his young wife, who is still confined to the house.

Mr. Schroeder was an industrious and prosperous young farmer about 30 years old, he is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Martha Rhoden, brothers Rudolph, Henry and John of LaMotte, one sister Mrs. John Connelly of St. Theresa, besides hosts of friends who extend deepest sympathy. Mr. Schroeder was a brother to the late Mrs. Gus Hoerschelmann of this city.
