Ella Viola McDonald was born at Maquoketa, Iowa, June 13, 1870 and died at her home in this city Thursday, June 10, 1920 at 1 o'clock a. m. She was a graduate of the Maquoketa high school in the class of 1891, after which she taught in the rural schools until her marriage. In 1892 she was united in marriage to Carl Harrington to which union were born six children, five of whom with the husband survive. The children left to mourn the loss of a loving mother are Mrs. Dell Morehead of Baldwin, Guy, Armina, Lucian and Hazel at home. She also leaves her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. McDonald, three sisters, Mrs. Barnes of Davenport, Mrs. Irene Strozier of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Adolph Burmeister of this city, six brothers, Leon of Delmar, Clyde of Davenport, Lucian, Harry, George and Charles of Maquoketa. There are also two grandchildren Harold and Bertha Morehead of Baldwin. The funeral services were held from the Free Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Watterson officiating and interment was made in the Union cemetery this date being the anniversary of her 50th birthday.
