Cascade Pioneer, Feb. 1, 1951
The community was shocked and saddened last Saturday morning when word came of the sudden death of Frank J. Boyle at his East Cascade home. He was a prominent retired farmer and former businessman. Death was due to a heart attack. Apparently in his usual good health on Friday, Mr. Boyle had made his customary visits downtown to transact business and visit with old friends. Shortly after retiring for the night at 10:30, the fatal attack struck him. Frank J. Boyle was in the 72nd year of his age at the time of his demise. He was born in Garry Owen, Jackson county, January 20, 1879, a son of the late Michael and Ellen (Howe) Boyle. He was educated in the Garry Owen schools and farmed until 1903 in his home community when he removed to Cascade. On September 8, 1914 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Miss Mae McNally. The ceremony was performed in St. Martin's church by the pastor, the late Rev. L. F. Roche. To this union were born four children — three sons and one daughter, who, together with his wife, survive. They are: Frank J. Boyle, Jr., Farley; Robert and Patrick Boyle, Cascade; and Mrs. Carl (Bonnie) Lundin, Scranton, Iowa. Also surviving are a sister, Miss Nellie Boyle, Cascade, and five grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his parents were six brothers and three sisters. Mr. Boyle was engaged In business activities in Cascade until 1929 when he moved to a farm south of Worthington. In 1944 he retired and again took up residence in his East Cascade home. Mr. Boyle was a member of St. Martin's parish, its Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. Funeral services were held at St. Martin's church, Rev. F. J. Dunn officiating.
