Elizabeth J. Thomas, daughter of Joseph and Mary Thomas, was born in Truro, Cromwell, England, August 29, 1868 and removed with her parents to the United States, settling in Maquoketa, Iowa, about 1872. She was married to Charles L. Omstead, May 10, 1891 at St. Mark's Episcopal church, Maquoketa. To this union there were born five children, four boys and one girl, who with the husband, survive to mourn their loss.
Mrs. Olmstead was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal church, of Ogarita Council No. 28, I. O. R. M. and of Timber City Lodge No. 23 K. L. of G. P., in the latter of which she held a policy for $2,000 in favor of her husband and children equally. The funeral was held at St. Mark's Sunday morning with Rev. A. T. Young officiating. The final resting place was in mt. Hope cemetery.
