William McBride, one of the early settlers of Richland township, Jones county, died at the family residence in Cascade on Thursday, Dec. 7th, 1893, after a long illness caused by an
attack of paralysis, he was the son of the late Gilbert McBride of Richland township. The deceased was born in the county of Monaghan, Ireland, in 1831, and was therefore 62 years old
when he died. He came to the United States with his parents in 1848, and settled at Phoenixville, Pa., and was employed in the iron works at that
place. He was married to Miss Nancy McKeown and in 1854 came, to Iowa, locating in Richland township, Jones county, where he resided until about four years ago, when he purchased property and moved to Cascade. Mr. McBride was an excellent citizen, a genial and liberal man and had hosts of friends. There survive him his devoted wife and daughters Mrs. Mary A. Carson and Mrs. Sarah J. Lincoln.
The funeral took place on Saturday. The Rev. James Hill preached the sermon.Cascade Pioneer, Dec. 15, 1893
