Mr. and Mrs. Patrick C. Donovan Died Within Two Days; Are Buried The Same Day.Mrs. Patrick C. Donovan died on May 22 and was quickly followed in death by her husband, Patrick C. Donovan on Monday, May 24, 1926, at their home 4 miles southeast of St. Patrick's Church, Garry Owen, Jackson County.
Johannah Donovan who was the daughter of Thomas Kennedy and Johanna Penney, was born in Ohio in 1855. In early days she came to Jackson County, Iowa with her parents. On April 23, 1883, she was married to Patrick C. Donovan at St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, and for more than forty-three years were faithful helpmates in the journey through life.
Patrick C. Donovan was born in Butler Township, Jackson County, Iowa, March 9, 1847 and made his home there all his life. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan are survived by their children Mrs. John Grace of Dubuque, Mrs. Edward Dullea, of Bernard, Stella and Christine, at home.
The funerals took place at St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, Rev. Mulcahy celebrated the mass and was assisted by Rev. P. J. Coffey of Farley and Rev. A. J. Walshe of South Garry Owen. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Garry Owen.
