Mary Pozorek was born in Bohemia Dec. 6, 1834 and after a short illness died at her home in the first ward in Maquoketa of a complication of diseases, April 16, 1904, aged 69 years 4 months and 10 days. She grew to womanhood and was educated in Bohemia and came with her parents to America in 1858 [sic]. In 1855 she was united in marriage to Wencil Seda who was called to his eternal reward six weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Seda resided on a farm in the western part of Clinton county until four years ago when they moved to this city where they rested from their earthly labors until they entered into rest. This union was blessed with nine children, three girls, and six boys, all of whom join to speak that praise of a kind and affectionate mother. Deceased was raised a catholic and although she was not a member of that faith at the time of her death, she was a true christian at heart, a devoted mother, a kind friend and a good neighbor. Funeral services were held at her home in first ward where a large circle of friends who gathered to pay their last earthly tribute to the departed one. Burial took place in Mt. Hope cemetery, D. F. Boomershine officiating.
