EMIL A. KRUSE

Emil A. Kruse, 81, of Preston, died Friday in Preston.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, with the Rev. Karl Wolf officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, Preston. Burial will be in the Godard Family Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, with a military service by the Miles American Legion.

Pallbearers will be Tom, Jerry, and Jason Kruse, Dean and Neal Engel, and Lawrence Schmidt.

Honorary pallbearer will be Lawrence McNeil.

Mr. Kruse was born June 28, 1914, in Bryant, Iowa, to John C. and Emma Harms Kruse. He married Jeannett Godard, Feb. 2, 1963, in Freeport, Ill.

He attended the Miles Schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.

He farmed in Miles, and later farmed for many years in Preston. He also worked for Meinerz Creamery for 10 years, retiring in 1984.

He served two terms on the Jackson City Extension Council and was a 4-H leader. He was a member of St. John's Church, was a charter member of Miles American Legion, and the 40/8 Vets of Maquoketa.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Streets of Charlotte; a son, Daniel of Bettendorf; a grandson; and three brothers, Henry of Nevada, Iowa, John of Maquoketa, and Virtus of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, three sisters, and a brother.

Death date: Nov. 17, 1995
