WILLIAM NAGEL

William Nagel, 84, Sabula, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital, Clinton.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Miller Funeral Home, Preston, with the Rev. Roger Maize of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mr. Nagel was born July 10, 1898, in Sabula, to John and Lena Buker [Bitker] Nagel. He married Hattie Dau July 8, 1925, and the couple farmed in the Miles-Sabula area, retiring in 1968. He had lived in Sabula since 1980.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Virtus (Evelyn) Kruse and Mrs. Bonnie McConohy, both of Clinton, Mrs. Lyle (Elaine) Clark of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. Betty Meyers [Meyer], Mrs. Phyllis Schnur and Carol Nagel, all of Sabula; two sons, William Jr. of Thomson and Larry of Miles; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Krabbenhoft of Arizona and Mrs. Margaret Butterfield of Sabula; and two brothers, John of Sabula and August of Hempton, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1970, a daughter, and a sister.
