JOHANES CLAUS KRUSE

Johanes Claus Kruse, 72, of Preston, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in his home, following a short illness. Services will be held Thursday, with prayer rites at 1:30 p.m. in the Krabbenhoft funeral home and the funeral at 2 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. W. A. Bischoff will officiate and burial will be in Miles cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, beginning this evening.

Mr. Kruse was born Feb. 10, 1880, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, to Claus and Hannah Kruse. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and came to this country in 1895. He farmed in the Miles vicinity before moving to Preston in 1948. He was married March 23, 1904, to Emma Harms. He was a member of St. John's church and the Lutheran Brotherhood.

Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. John (Agnes) Grosskruger, Preston, and Mrs. Ben (Anna) Hoffman, Lost Nation; five sons, Henry of Miles, John, Emil, Virtus, and Marvin, all of Bryant; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Bott, Clinton, and a half-brother, Peter Kroeger, Sabula.

One daughter and two sisters preceded him.
